The GVCM-095-051-01VAC is a vacuum-compatible, brushless linear voice coil motor with an integrated shaft and bearing. The self-guided moving shaft simplifies mechanical integration and provides smooth, direct-drive linear motion for equipment operating inside vacuum chambers and other controlled environments.

The actuator provides a 1.00 in (25.4 mm) stroke, 23.5 Lb (104.6 N) of continuous force, and 74.0 Lb (329.3 N) of intermittent force at a 10% duty cycle. Its non-commutated direct-drive construction eliminates gears, lead screws, belts, and other transmission components, providing zero mechanical backlash, no cogging, rapid acceleration and deceleration, quiet operation, and long service life. The housing outside diameter is 3.750 inch, 95.3 mm, and the housing length is 2.00 in (50.8 mm).

Vacuum-System Integration

Select the motor, wiring, connectors, mounting hardware, position sensor, and controller according to the required vacuum level, cleanliness standard, temperature range, duty cycle, and allowable heat load. Thermal performance in vacuum differs from operation in air because convective cooling is reduced; continuous and intermittent operating limits must therefore be evaluated for the complete installation.

The GVM-095-051-01VAC Linear Voice Coil Servo Motor, also called a moving coil motor, features: High acceleration/deceleration, high speed, smooth motion even at very low speeds, and high precision, accuracy and repeatability when operated in a closed servo loop.

This brushless servo motor has a 1.0 in. (25.4 mm) stroke with 23.5 lbs. (104.6 N) of continuous force for a high force-to-size ratio and 74.0 lbs. (329.3 N) of peak force at a 10% duty cycle. The precision ground diameter shaft, guided by a bearing, is 1.78 in. (45.2 mm) long in the extended position. The shaft can tolerate side loads to 5 lbs. (22 N), and has a 4-40 UNC 2B x 0.38 deep thread for backlash free connection to a load.

Compact, the GVCM-095-051-01VAC motor is 3.750 in. (95.3 mm) in diameter and the housing is just 2.0 in. (63.5 mm) long. When the shaft is extended the coil end extends beyond the housing by 1.780 in. (45.2 mm) and the housing and coil ends each have two 10-32 UNF-2B threaded holes on 1.00 in. (25.4mm) bolt circles for easy installation.
