HVCM-051-025-019-01MVAC vacuum-compatible hollow core linear voice coil motor

Product Overview

The HVCM-051-025-019-01MVAC is a vacuum-compatible hollow core linear voice coil motor designed for fast, precise, short-stroke motion in low-pressure and controlled-environment equipment. Its 19.1 mm clear through-aperture allows optical beams, illumination, wiring, tubing, or other system components to pass through the center of the actuator.

Performance and Vacuum-Compatible Construction

The motor provides a 0.50 in (12.7 mm) stroke, 4.8 Lb (21.3 N) continuous force, and 15.15 Lb (67.4 N) intermittent force at a 10% duty cycle. The housing measures 2.000 in (50.8 mm) in outside diameter and 1.00 in (25.4 mm) in length. Its brushless, non-commutated direct-drive construction provides smooth bidirectional force, zero cogging, rapid acceleration and deceleration, quiet operation, and long service life. The vacuum-compatible configuration is intended for applications where reduced outgassing and clean operation are important.

Key Features

• Vacuum-compatible hollow core linear voice coil motor
• 19.1 mm clear through-aperture
• 0.50 in (12.7 mm) linear stroke
• 4.8 Lb (21.3 N) continuous force
• 15.15 Lb (67.4 N) intermittent force at 10% duty cycle

Applications

Semiconductor and Vacuum Equipment: Wafer handling, inspection, metrology, sample positioning, and vacuum-process automation.
Optical and Laser Systems: Beam steering, focusing, scanning, illumination, optical alignment, and laser processing.
Scientific, Medical, and Aerospace Systems: Research instruments, diagnostic equipment, clean-environment mechanisms, satellite hardware, and precision test systems.

Vacuum-System Integration

Confirm the required operating pressure, allowable outgassing, temperature range, cable and feedthrough requirements, thermal path, and any bakeout or cleanliness procedures before installation. In vacuum, heat is not removed by convection, so the mounting structure and duty cycle must provide an adequate conductive thermal path. Contact Moticont for application-specific vacuum compatibility and operating recommendations.

Mechanical Guidance and Closed-Loop Control

The motor generates linear force but does not provide its own mechanical guidance. Support the moving and stationary components with an external bearing, flexure, slide, or other guidance mechanism. For closed-loop position or velocity control, combine the motor with an appropriate position sensor, servo controller, and current amplifier. Final accuracy and repeatability depend on the feedback sensor, mechanical guidance, load, structural stiffness, controller, and servo tuning.
