The HCDS-051-032-013-01-B1-01 is a direct-drive hollow core linear voice coil stage designed for fast, precise, backlash-free motion. Its central aperture allows optical beams, illumination, wiring, tubing, or other components to pass through the moving stage, making it suitable for compact optical, medical, industrial, metrology, and research systems.

Performance and Construction

The stage provides a 0.97” (24.6 mm) range of motion, 6.3 lb (28.2 N) continuous force, 20.0 lb (89.9 N) intermittent force at a 10% duty cycle and a 12.7 mm clear aperture. The direct-drive design eliminates lead screws, belts, gears, and other transmission components, providing zero mechanical backlash, no cogging, rapid acceleration and deceleration, quiet operation, and long service life.

Mechanical Integration and Closed-Loop Control

The load can be attached directly to the guided moving table, eliminating transmission backlash and supporting high dynamic response. The stage includes pre-drilled and counterbored mounting holes for integration into new or existing equipment. For closed-loop position or velocity control, use a compatible servo controller and current amplifier selected for the required force, speed, duty cycle, payload, and motion profile. Final positioning accuracy depends on the encoder, mechanical mounting, load, structural stiffness, controller, and servo tuning.

The 1 micron resolution HCDS-051-032-013-01-B1-01 Voice Coil Stage features cross roller linear bearings. The stage has a 0.97 in. (24.6 mm) range of motion with 6.3 lb. (28.2 N) of continuous force and 20.0 lb (89.9 N) peak force.

These brushless, clean, quiet, efficient, low inertia, high acceleration, zero cogging and high speed voice coil driven stages have a built-in home switch for accurate initialization. As the coil is fixed and the magnetic assembly moves, there are no moving electrical components to fail. Designed for closed loop servo operation an integral quadrature optical encoder with differential outputs is included.

The stage 1.509 in (38.3 mm) by 2.000 in. (50.8 mm) table is equipped with 4 8-32UNC-28 mounting holes. Pre-drilled and counter-bored mounting holes in the base of the stages and a plug -and-play wired connector allows for easy integration into new or existing applications.

This black anodized voice coil stage with a 0.500 in (12.7 mm) clear aperture are ideal for: Laser drilling and machining, optical focusing, testing, laser steering, mirror positioning, scanning, oscillation, switching, as well as precision applications in industrial, medical, metrology, and research fields.
